When will He break His fasting?
All these above questions and more will be given answer to. But before we proceed, let’s take note of this crucial question: WHO IS GOD?
WHO GOD IS
A lot have been written and revealed about God. Many books and articles have been written about God. Many are still in offing. The pure truth is that we cannot know God FULLY in this our mortal bodies; we will get to know Him better and best when we are fully-spirit, when our terrestrial bodies might have metamorphosed into celestial bodies. So God is the Supreme Being, the ultimate creator of the universe, the Self – Existing One. The One every creation must believe in and worship. God’s disclosure about Himself and of His will to the creatures is through revelation. The basis for revelation of God is the Scripture, the Bible. The bible starts with the revelation of God in the past; it reveals the present and ends with revelation of the future. Nobody truly knows God except Christ; so knowing God starts by knowing Christ, Phillipians. 3:10. Knowing God is based on revelation revealed by Jesus Christ this is a powerful knowledge but not enough for a complete restoration of a man. Revering God is based on faith in Jesus Christ’s complete work of restoration. This is an acknowledgment of God’s work of restoration as carried out by Jesus Christ. This is where humans understanding vary about God.
- Some people have the knowledge of God but they do not acknowledge God Roman 1:18-30.
- Some are void of God’s knowledge but somehow acknowledge God, Acts of Apostles 17:22.
- The best set of people is those who have the full knowledge of God and they acknowledge Him. They have the knowledge of God by revelation and embrace the person of God by faith, Romans 10:8-17.
The reason for different religions, sects, schism, denomination, is based on individualism’s revelation about God. One cogent point to note is that God is to you according to your knowledge about Him, Psalms 18:25-26 and overall: the manner which God reveals Himself to you. The work of creation revealed the kind of God, in apex; man reveals the true image of God. To know God it is vital to know reason man is created.
IN THE BEGINNING
The book of Genesis, termed “origin” tells about the beginning of universe, humanity, marriage, sin and suffering in the world. It also reveals God’s way of dealing with humanity and His pristine plan for humanity. God in His original and unspoiled plan, created man in His image. Being created in God’s image entails that man dominates over everything God created. Man is to take charge over angels, animals, his (man’s) own body and spirit. Humanity was given free will to make decision. This is what distinguished human being from angelic being. Angels by the virtue of their creation do not have power to dissect, edit or challenge God’s word. Whatever God tells them they do without questioning. In fact, God does not need to test the angels. They act, they do, and they go as God commands.
In Eden lies the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge. Ironically, the tree of knowledge is a tree of death! God said the day man eat of its fruit, (the tree of knowledge) man shall surely die. The human race inherited the seed of death as soon as our fore parents tasted this fruit. Humanity receives the gift of physical and spiritual death through eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge. The tree of knowledge is quite different to the tree of life. Eating of the tree of knowledge, humanity was initiated into the world of civilization; hence man was exposed to contumacy and selfishness, engaging in self-interest, self-esteem, self-gratification, self-flattery, self-opinion, self-seeking, self-ruling, self-will, self-righteousness, self-centred and self-reliance. Civility and complete obedience to God thus became scarcity by men. In that bad shape condition of man, God had to hinder man from taking the fruit from the tree of life.
The main reason God created man is that man should worship Him. Worship is the total services man render to God. It is a deliberate act by man that is geared toward God. Whatsoever man does God want to be seen. He cherishes and acknowledges His relationship with Human being. He loves to embark on an intimacy fellowship with human being and that is the whole essence He has created man. He shifts attention from angelic being to human being when man worships Him. He knows that angels are worshiping Him spontaneously, because they have no free will. So when men who can claim to do other things now channel their acts to God, He rejoices in that.
Man was formed by God in God’s image, but man was deformed by obeying God’s directive. God to man’s fellowship was temporarily affected. For instance, it was after the birth of Enosh that people began to worship (again) the Lord by name Genesis 4:26. Sin forfeited man’s dominion over every creation of God. It brought about fear, insecurity, trouble and uncertainty. God Himself was broken by man’s sin and fall. God saw that man is preoccupied with wickedness and evil. God thought of wiping out the human race from the surface of the earth (probably to create another being) but He found Noah to be righteous. Noah walked in close fellowship with God. With God’s instruction, Noah built a large boat (ark) and thus he was saved with his family when God really destroyed the whole world with water.
